by Holeandra on January 29, 2012, 01:51:22 PMSo here is Zandy’s story: Born in 2007, he is a very tall imposing horse (17 hands), but a big puppy dog. He needs a kind, confident, and patient rider. He was gently started in the summer of 2010, was sold to California to an unsuitable home, and came back to us in the spring of 2011. Due to his very poor condition on his return, on the vet’s advice, he was turned out on our hilly farm pastures for the summer of 2011 with our Irish draft gelding who loves to play. He slowly regained his weight and muscle. This January, Zandy was placed back with a trainer and he now W/T/C under saddle, although his canter is more of a gallop and would need more work. His walk and trot are lovely and adjustable and he willingly takes both leads in the canter. His trainer is full of praise for his work ethic and kind disposition. He is a horse who likes to work, but requires more conditioning and time to mature (Zandy grew almost three (3) inches since his return from California). He has impeccable dressage blood lines (Erik 351, Iron Spring Farm), out of a model mare. He is FHANA approved and registered. For information on his sire, see: http://www.ironspringfarm.com/stallions/erik-351/808He will be placed for free, but with a $1,000 deposit, to be returned to the new owner after one (1) year of suitable care. The new owner would be required to work with his current trainer for a month to assess suitability and commitment to this horse. Zandy will continue his training about one hour west of the Twin Cities. Zandy cannot be resold and we would retain his papers (although the new owner would be welcome to review the paperwork). This is NOT a project horse for a trainer, but rather the opportunity for a horse person to own and love a pureblood Friesian. We would require references from the new owner’s equine vet, farrier, and two (2) other personal friends. Finally, Zandy cannot move more than two (2) hours from the Twin Cities. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. We are not planning to be visiting on a daily basis, but would like to visit a couple of times over the first year and want to make travel manageable. Thank you for your interest, Isabelle Olson P.S. Any home/placement where Zandy would be the only horse or a home with a proven record of caring for their older horses would be preferred. 288 Views | 3 Replies

by Drafter on January 24, 2012, 11:09:33 AMWilbur is a 10 year old grade Fjord Gelding. He's about 14.3 to 15h I'd say. I was told he was broke to drive (I don't have the equipment to try it) and it broke to ride. Does well for vet and farrier, loads well and is easy to catch. Loves attention. Mack is a 7 year old gelding, about 13.1H or so and stocky built. I was told he was broke to drive but not sure how well. He is good with vet and farrier, stands tied and loads. He is greenbroke to ride. This is one of the smartest horses I have ever known. His only flaw is he is hard to catch, so would be best to have a smaller area to keep him in to begin with. These two geldings are the only ones I have here I am selling them together so I don't end up with just one unhappy, lonely horse. I am asking $3500 for them. (I can't get the picture to download I'll be happy to email it) 234 Views | 3 Replies

by amj on January 02, 2012, 06:12:12 PMRed roan Foundation bred gelding with 6+ months of cutting training. Really broke sweet, nice go button, great stop. Rides like a much older horse, extremely level headed & willing. Would make a nice sorter or penner, or a great using horse at a ranch. He's a go all day kind of a deal. Cowy, moves with a cow, just not going to quite make a cutter. Bred from good old fashioned working & show stock: Cal Bar, Royal King, Triple Colonel, Joe Glo, Flying X 6. $5500 FIRM.

by Holeandra on January 01, 2012, 07:41:25 PMMy 17 hand Friesian 4 1/2 year old Friesian just went in to be started today (in Brainerd). My ultimate goal is to find him a new home in 2012, as he is dressage/trail and I am NOT dressage (but I do like the trail). He is a sweet guy and I will be quite picky about his new home (previous horse experience, how long person keeps horses, vet references, etc.) If you know anyone who is not afraid of tall and has had Friesians/Friesian crosses before, please send them my way.
Pictures will be coming middle of January. 184 Views | 0 Replies

by bytegoddess on December 20, 2011, 01:43:45 AMFYI: I just got a series of text messages to my phone from an email account... the text was identical to some of the scams listed on DreamHorse.com's fraud warning page. The address was doris2kare@rocketmail.com, and the person claimed to be named Doris Evans, from Ohio. Asked for a LOT of personal info from me (which I did not provide), but never responded to any of my questions about where she wanted to keep the horse, who would be riding it, etc. etc. etc. She used very poor grammar & spelling, and though I try not to judge people too harshly by this alone, it was bad enough to raise a concern. I did some digging, and found that some of the EXACT same text has been reported in the past, so I'm guessing it's really a scam. There was a lot of talk about cashier's checks and money orders in an amount higher than my asking price that they wanted me to cash and then pay their shipper with - it was creeeeeepy in the end. I ended up telling her I was no longer interested in selling the pony to her, as I didn't feel comfortable with how she was interacting with me. 483 Views | 3 Replies

by bytegoddess on December 18, 2011, 04:48:50 PMCute as a button!!! "Hope" is a 9-year old bay Morgan x Welsh Pony mare, approx. 13HH. Great conformation, full mane and tail, with a sweet, face and a kind eye. Lovely ground manners; loads effortlessly, stands willingly for the farrier, and gives no problems to the vet. Sound, healthy, energetic, cuddly pony that would be great for either an confident child or a small-statured adult. Athletic, very clever, and not spooky at all, this versatile pony could be finished out into almost any discipline you'd like, be it English or Western. Her jog is smooth as silk... you could ride it all day and not get sore, and this pony has the stamina to do just that if you want her to! Easy keeper, yet will never turn down the treats. This pony DOES have quite a bit of get up and go, and would be best suited to a confident, assertive, intermediate-level rider who communicates his or her wishes clearly and consistently. Current on vaccinations, including negative Coggins done Oct. 2011; wormed and trimmed Nov. 2011. We must see the person who will own the pony ride her before consenting to final sale to ensure a good fit. We can deliver if you pay for the fuel. Thank you for your interest - all inquiries answered within 12-24 hours if a phone number is included. Photos online at http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/grd/2756447643.html425 Views | 3 Replies
